Nerd Nirvana. Las Vegas is currently playing host to the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow. The International Consumer Electronics Show provides the world its first glimpses of breakthrough products. The show opens today and the buzz is that it will focus on digital entertainment. But how content is delivered is as important as the gadgets themselves, which is why Internet players from Yahoo and Google are not only attending the show but giving keynote addresses. The usual suspects are there as well: Cisco Systems, Intel Corp., Samsung Electronics, Sony, Microsoft and Apple.

High tech and portable seem to be the themes this year, and Apple is enjoying renewed buzz about the iPod, due to the launch of the video-playing iPod in 2005.

The iPod is by far my favourite gadget. It is Dylan Jones’s favourite as well.

Dylan Jones is a compulsive album collector, music journalist and multi award-winning men’s magazine editor. Like me, he feels that the best, recent invention to bless the human race was the iPod. In iPod, Therefore I Am Jones recounts his entree into this exponentially growing cult. Along the way he talks about the genesis of the iPod from its conception by Steve Jobs to the landmark design by Jonathan Ive.

Has you read this book? Do you like it as much as your iPod?

Ipod, Therefore I Am: Thinking Inside The White Box
by Dylan Jones (Bloomsbury USA, 1-59691-021-6, $19.95 cloth)
